dc.description.abstractThe popularity of entertainment applications on smartphones has risen and has been known to cause negative effects on children’s growth. One of the impacts on children is their descending academic result due to addiction to phone usage. Their poor time management of balancing study time and leisure time is the main reason for such an issue. This project aims to solve such a problem not only by regulating a child's phone usage, but also encouraging them to perform self-learning. An Android application was created to implement the functionalities of screen time regulation and self-learning encouragement. This application was designed to become a replacement for the default home launcher of Android devices to restrict the child user’s access to other applications. It has a built-in quiz module that provides academic exercises for learning and revision purposes. The application uses a reward system to reinforce the child user's self-learning attitude by providing rewards upon completion of the academic exercises in the application. While the application holds the potential for further development, it is a completed application that may proceed to the production stage for real-world client service.en_US
