Abstract: | Some sensor devices usually have only the alert function such as temperature and humidity devices inside computer rooms, intravenous infusion monitoring devices in hospitals, etc. However, if users are far away from the alert area, they could not know the sensor conditions despite the fact that the alerts or warnings have been triggered. As a result, the users need to monitor manually these sensor devices many times for a day to check the status of the sensors. This project implemented a cloud monitoring system for sensor devices and mobile devices such that users could monitor their sensor values anywhere anytime. In this project, temperature and humidity sensors were selected as the testing sensor samples in order to show how the mechanism of this system. For the system,three main parts were trying to be implemented for demonstrate the performance of this system. Firstly, a WIFI module RN171was programmed to upload the data of the sensors to cloud servers. Secondly, the cloud server was designed to receive, process, store and transfer data for different sensors and an user could create an account to log into the system to observe those data interested by the users. Finally, application softwares were developed to ease the usages for users to analyse the sensor values or provide notification messages for extraordinary statuses of those sensors to users on those human interfaces such as computer terminals, mobile phones, display terminals etc. with the help of web browsers, android Apps and WeChat etc. In this project, the sensor data were successfully uploaded to the cloud server and the data are being processed by our developed software on the cloud server. Users could obtain the sensor data, useful information, warnings and alarms through the accessment of web browsers and android Apps accordingly. In fact, different sensors can be connected to RN171 WIFI modules to implement different functions if and only if the working voltage and output voltage of the connected sensors match with the voltage requirements of RN171 WIFI modules. The system can be applied to different working area, such as monitoring industrial gas concentration when gas sensors are connected, monitoring patients’ temperature with body temperature sensors inside hospital wards or monitoring the temperature and humidity of server rooms when the related sensors are being installed, etc. This system can interface with the Machine to Machine (M2M) network such that fulfill the goal of accessing the sensor data anywhere anytime. |
