Professional computer-aided design (CAD) software allows users to create 3D models precisely and provides them with many productive features that are not possible in real clay modeling. However, CAD software usually has a steep learning curve. The time and effort required to create the 3D models increases with the complexity of the object's surface. This is not favorable for one-time usage and fast prototyping. With the Leap Motion Controller, there are dedicated applications (e.g. Sculpting) that can provide natural 3D modeling experiences to users. Users can model virtual objects as if they are prototyping with real clay. However, these applications are still far from satisfactory due to the lack of precision. In this project, I developed an application with natural 3D modeling interface for AutoCAD users to perform quick prototyping with their hands, by using the Leap Motion Controller, virtual hands and anaglyph 3D graphics. 3D models can be moved and rotated freely within a virtual space. Natural deformations by fingertips, such as pressing and twisting, can be performed by users. At the end, a user evaluation was carried out. The result provides important insights and ideas for improving 3D modeling applications with natural user interface.en_US
