Abstract: | Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which is also called a drone, is a vehicle without pilot. It should be controlled remotely by different methods. UAV is widely used for different fields. For example, it can be used for wars, search and rescue (SAR) or just for entertainment. In this project, Ar.Drone is used as a platform for developing control software. This is a quadcopter which is lifted by four motors. Due to the software design, it is friendly for programmers to hanedle the IO of the AR.Drone controlling system. For AR.Drone, it is available for IOS, Android, Linux and also Windows OS. Linux is selected in this project. It is widely used by many types of embedded system such as mobile phones. Therefore, studying Linux is very important for developing embedded system device. It will be helpful for developing different types of system. One of the important components for AR.Drone is the network connection ability. It is powerful because it can be controlled from any client device supporting Wi-Fi. The control software is based on this connection feature so as to connect the computer to the drone. It is possible to connect a 3D mouse to the computer for controlling the AR.Drone. However, extra program in the software is needed because the ARDroneLIB does not support 3D mouse device. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the output signals from the 3D mouse. |
