Abstract: | The attempt of this project is to design and fabricate a high gain Fresnel zone plate lens antenna working at 300GHz. Rogers RT/duroid®5880 laminates is used for fabrication. The antenna should achieve a reasonable bandwidth and produce an axially symmetric radiation pattern. A waveguide is used to feed the antenna and a complementary source is placed before the feeding aperture in order to obtain equal E and H plane radiation patterns. Rectangular head feed and T head feed were fabricated for evaluation and comparison. Measurement results give an impedance bandwidth of 34GHz (32%) from 251GHz to 285GHz for T head feed antenna and multiple narrow bands for rectangular head feed antenna. Antenna with rectangular head feed gives unequal E and H plane patterns and the one with T head feed has closer patterns. The gain of the rectangular head feed antenna is approximately 15dB at 300GHz and T head feed antenna reaches a gain of 20dB at the same frequency. |
