Abstract: | This project will bring professional actors from the Theatre Noir Foundation, a leading group of Hong Kong-based actors, into the classroom for the EN/GE course, Shakespeare: Introduction to Genius. The actors will work with the students in interpreting scenes from Shakespeare’s plays and in preparing the students’ final performances for an end-of-semester drama festival. The objectives of this exercise include deepening the students’ appreciation and understanding of Shakespeare, giving them confidence in performance, and providing them with transferable presentation skills. William Yip, the artistic director of Theatre Noir, will also work directly with our teachers to advise on increasing students’ exposure to all aspects of live theatre, and integrating drama more fully into the City University curriculum. |
