Abstract: | In this project, a small planar monopole antenna for WWAN and LTE operations (698-960MHz and 1710-2690MHz) in mobile phones is proposed. The antenna is embedded at the bottom of the circuit board and two slots with different sizes are located near to the bottom edge of the ground plane in order to obtain a better excitation of the resonant modes in the operating band of the antenna. The excited resonant modes cover the GSM700/850/900 (698-960MHz) band and GSM1800/1900/UMTS/LTE2300/2500 (1710-2690MHz) band. The configuration and the operating principle of the antenna including an F-shaped driven strip and some parasitic strips are studied. The simulated and measured results of the fabricated antenna including S11, input impedance, radiation pattern, and efficiency are presented and compared. |
