Android Application – CityU Eventbook

Abstract

There are many events hold in CityU every day. For example, CAIO office organizes many events about career and internship which can be shown in the event calendar from their website. However, these are only part of events hold in CityU. There are much more events other than these. Also, the website only shows some basic information of the event. Hence, an android events application, CityU Eventbook, was developed for everyone in CityU. Users can find the coming events searching by keywords or specific QR code. For each event, user can view the schedule of the event. They can also enroll to the event after login. Then, they will have their own ticket for that event. Also, they can view the newsfeed and question for the event after taking attendance using the ticket. Moreover, they can bookmark the event into the app¡¦s calendar as a reminder. In the newsfeed function of every event, user can view and share some photos or comments. In the question function, user can answer the questions asked by the organizer and view the result in real-time. Another application, CityU Eventbook Host was also developed for the event organizers. Organizers can view, create, modify or delete the events and the events¡¦ details that they organized. It also has a take attendance function which is scanning the visitors’ ticket. The project was implemented using Eclipse with java and tested with Google Nexus 5 running in android 4.4.2. However, the target platform is just 4.0 or above.
