In this project, Ambisonics technology is implemented. The Ambisonics is an audio engineering technic that generates surround sound in an audio system. The main idea of Ambisonics is that, instead of having each loudspeaker in a surround sound audio system to give a discrete sound signal as the way surround sound experience is created in a standard Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound System, each loudspeaker gets its own portion in an imaginary full sphere sound-field. By doing so, listeners would find the generated sound-field smoother and closer to real-world environment. There are four parts in this project, namely, (1) to encode a mono recording into Ambisonics representation, (3) to encode an existing stereo file into Ambisonics representation, (3) to manipulate the surround sound-field and (4) to decode the Ambisonics represented audio signals into playable soundtrack in a four-loudspeaker audio system.en_US
