Abstract: | In broadband wireless communication system, channel classification is a key operation that must be done before channel equalization and symbol detection. In order to choose appropriate channel estimation and equalizing filter, the channel must first estimate the channel class into different areas such as Rural, Urban and Hilly channel profile. As wireless communication become more popular, channel classification becomes more important in digital signal processing. In this project, an OFDM system model with IEEE 802.15.4g standard would be used to simulate those signals. This project aims at investigating channel classification methods using theoretical framework of OFDM. Subcarriers under the standard constraint were randomly generated. Several frequency spectrums of those signals would be produced and investigated. By observing different frequency spectrums which are obtaining from different areas, some statistical characteristics could be hopefully found, like dynamic range of the signal or the number of the zero crossing. After investigate those factors that can be used to classify channels to into different areas, a new classification method would be hopefully investigated. |
