SP Xpress Android Version

Abstract

Devising an effective way to evaluate students is always a big difficulty for the education colleges. In the past, teachers only concentrated on the examination marks of students. However, the examination marks may not be an effective reflection of academic progress for both students and educators. SP Xpress is an Excel macro to analyze the result of a test. This macro is not only able to analyze the learning ability of students, but also provides different indexes for questions. These indexes can help teachers to identify students with different learning abilities and make corresponding arrangement for different students. Nevertheless, SP Xpress can only support Microsoft Excel 2007 and will not be useable in other newer versions. At the same time, electronic learning is becoming more and more popular in Hong Kong. Many teachers will use their own portable electronic devices for teaching such as an Android tablet. This project implements SP Xpress on the Android platform as an application. Therefore, teachers can analyze their students’ performance without using a computer. The results of the analysis are shown in different indexes and charts, in the same way as the results generated from the Excel macro.
