Issue Date: 2014
Supervisor: Supervisor: Dr. LAU, Ricky W H; Assessor: Dr. CHIU, Bernard C Y
Abstract: The aim of this project is to build a smartphone controlled Quadcopter. This project involves three important tasks and they are: (i) to design a sensor module, (ii) to develop main program for control board, and (iii) to develop android based flight control software. The sensor module has been implemented and it includes gyroscope, accelerometer and compass to sense the motion of the Quadcopter. A main program has been developed for the control board to communicate with smartphone via commands and to sense airframe motion. An Android Apps to allow a single user to control the flight motion has been implemented. The Quadcopter can be controlled via either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection. A Wi-Fi module and a camera can be mounted on the Quadcopter to allow video streaming for air-view application.
