As the growth of internet applications, the cloud service providers are facing the challenge that reducing the cost caused by regular content replication and maintenance between datacenters. To minimize the cost and ensure the performance, a cost effective design of inter- datacenter network is significant. In this project, the means of designing a WDM network under optimal cost by considering multicast traffic grooming is introduced. In recent years, the high layer electronic components are recognized as the primary cost as important as the number of wavelength deployed in the network design. The Integer linear programming methods with light-path and light-tree formulations are implemented to give the optimal design of inter-datacenter networks. The results proved that the achievable cost-efficiency of a light-tree based design is superior of the only light-path design and the performance is getting better with the traffic load of multicast requests increasing.en_US
