Abstract: | The purpose of this project is to develop an accurate and user-friendly mobile application for visually impaired users specifically to let them recognize the place correctly. The application helps them a lot when they are going to a place they have never been to. Nowadays, discrimination is not accepted and more aids are provided for disabled people specifically. The aids can also be found in mobile devices, many functions are specially designed for disabled people such as Talkback, a text to speech application in mobile phone and there are more and more visually impaired people using mobile device recently. However, there are some applications which are not specifically designed for them and they may not able to use it. For example, Google map, which required the user to read the map in order to use it. Our project is to build a text map so that the visually impaired users can read it using Talkback. We also provide a server to store and correct the collected data in order to increase the accuracy of the application and the data can be specially designed for the user. |
