The most common localization method used in modern days in Global Positioning System (GPS) which often provides a satisfactory result in rural areas but not in urban areas. With the help of node localization, a handset can also locate itself without using satellite. Node localization offers a simple and implementable way to estimate the location of handset users where a key parameter Received Signal Strength (RSS) is captured and utilized for localization. This project aims at investigating the performance of node localization in urban areas and sub-urban areas. Localization based on RSS does not reply on extremely precise elements such as time or angle. Signal strength is encoded into every transmitted signal which is simply extracted it from signal for further calculation. Hence, the proposed localization method is almost applicable to all handsets nowadaysen_US
