Abstract: This project aims to build an automatic car which can act as a tourist guide and lead users to designated area in City University of Hong Kong. This paper describes a system that has three main functions: provides an interface for user input, locates itself in City University, and guides user to designated area. A car was built and the system was implemented using BeagleBoard (a cortex-A8 development board). Android OS was installed the on the board. Also, a LCD display, a capacitive touch screen and an USB Wi-Fi network interface card were connected to the board and corresponding drivers were implemented in the kernel. An interface was established for implementing navigation and communication with a cortex-M3 development board for car control.
