Abstract: | In this final year project, an android mobile application called pathfinder was implemented which is a audio navigator for visual impaired people and provide additional function for them.. Visual impaired people are not able to use Google map on their phone since their vision is not well. To navigate visual impaired people, we need to use sound to communicate with them. The aim of project is to help visual impaired people to travel accessibly in Hong Kong by using GPS signal. The function of the application include: (1) Guiding user to a certain place by audio (2) Add or get description for a location (Sound and Text) (3) Setting up a route for other user The audio navigation function can guide the visual impaired people to a place that they haven't gone. Furthermore, if they know the facility and building around a certain location, they can add some description to describe the surrounding facilities and building or other important message to let other user know. The description can be a text or a voice. Also they are allowed to save the voice for private use or open for public. Besides, setting route function can let users design a route for themselves. User can use the function in Smartphone to set a route or their relatives and friend can go to the webpage to draw a route in a map for the them. |
