Online Bookstore and Mobile Book Reader

Abstract

Nowadays, Electronic Commerce is one of the advanced technologies in computer world that becomes more focused. An online bookstore is an E-commerce system for trading books between customers and companies. In this project, ASP.NET which is a web application framework will be used to develop a simple bookstore. The objective is to build a platform for customers purchasing books and for book publishers publishing their products. The display of the books in each category can be achieved using database access. MySQL database is used and stored in a free database hosting website. There are some features like comment system or book request system such that different roles can communicate with others for certain purpose. With the trends of smartphone, the number of applications or games in the market or smartphone has risen significantly. An e-book application will also be implemented in this project. It is a simple book reader for user to read their books from online bookstore or from their file storage. Android java language is used to develop this application. Database techniques will be required to display all the available books. With some components such as Dropbox SDK or Gesture detector, users can read their book conveniently.
