This project aims at deciphering the encoding process of natural image in response to different temporal frequencies in visual perception. That is to investigate how the brain react when the person watch grating image with different temporal frequencies. In the project, a 64-channel EEG machine is used for recording the electrical activity by placing electrodes on the scalp. Two subjects were involved in the experiment and they watched gratings shown on display device with different temporal frequencies. The temporal frequency is compared between 1 cycle per second and 6 cycles per second. For each temporal frequency, 300 trials were recorded from each subject. After the data acquisition, data is extracted and processed in MATLAB. The result shows that the brain has a greater response when the temporal frequency is increased and only occipital lobes react when human watch image. Also, the properties of alpha wave can be observed which its frequency ranges is from 8 to 13Hz in frequency domain.en_US
