Impact Analysis using Ruby on Rails and Cloud Computing - KnowledgeMaker

Abstract

Bibliographic database websites store information of academic journals. In most cases, these websites provide services in searching and analyzing academic papers and journals. Various types of indexes are used such as number of citations, h-index and impact factor. Numerous measuring methods in academic indexes make scholars confused in getting information of his/her published paper and finding relevant papers and journals in a certain topic or criteria. This project develops an integrated web application to provide analyzed academic information from different bibliographic database. Ruby on Rails is used to develop the front-end web interface. Ruby scripts and cloud computing technologies are used to support web servers and backend information retrieval system. The developed system is an efficient tool for scholars to gather academic indexes of his/her published papers and relationships with other scholars. The system also demonstrates system scalability and automated updating.
