Abstract: | Main objective of the project was to build an automatic robot car, which can guide users to go from a place to another inside City University of Hong Kong. The project was divided into three parts: Navigation, Control of the robot car by using Cortex M3, and integrate touch screen panel to BeagleBoard. In the navigation part, Wi-Fi positioning was used to obtain current position of the robot and determine the suitable path to the destination. The above algorithm was built inside an android application and is run on the BeagleBoard with android platform. Second part of the project is to develop a control method for the robot by using Cortex M3. In this part, I2C to DAC module was used to provide different voltage level in order to control the speed of the motors and thus to control the movement of the robot. Apart from that, I2C compass was used to obtain heading of the robot and also is used to prevent the robot from heading to wrong direction. Also, infrared and ultra-sonic sensors were used to prevent the robot from hitting objects. Third part of the project was to port an android system to the BeagleBoard, to integrate a touch screen panel with it and to connect it with the Cortex M3 board. The communication method used between BeagleBoard and touch screen was I2C and the communication between it and the Cortex M3 board was by I2C. |
