Title: Performance Evaluation of Optical Burst Switching Networks
Authors: Wu, Yichen

Abstract: With the wide use of fast-speed optical fiber, the rapid increase in Internet traffic and the bursty property of the traffic, people start to look for a network which uses optical, can support high-bandwidth and is suitable for bursty traffic. People come up with the idea, Optical Burst Switching (OBS). Till now, optical burst switching has not been largely put into practical application yet. Most part of it is still at research stage. However, with the increasingly large demand of networks with high speed and good quality of service, it has its strong benefits. There are various reservation protocols based on OBS. It is important to investigate those schemes and priority regimes so that a better combination can be chosen to improve the performance of OBS.
