Title: SAR evaluation of portable wireless communication devices by using fractional body models

Abstract: In recent years and ages, human life has well been dominated by Wireless Communication technology. While the quantity of wireless communication devices (ie, smart-phones, PDA etc) are numerous and magnificent among the world, as well as the devices are commonly exposed to human body in just a few centimeters of distance, concerns regarding the public health in aspect of radiation being emitted are raising. The project studies the relationship and consequences regarding human organ exposure under different electromagnetic field (EM field) in certain close distance. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is also being investigated in cases of organs' exposure under various EM field emitted by daily-found RF devices. FDTD approach (Fidelity, commercially available software) will be adopted for simulation in the analysis model. The project investigates on 3 male organs, gall bladder, lung (right & left) and liver. Organs are chosen as men regularly place their RF devices inside chest/ blazer pockets, waist bags, etc. In which distance between devices and the organs are small. Simulation works are done in 4 approaches for 4 wireless communication systems. They are GSM 900, PCS 1800, 3G and WLAN in which the operating frequencies of them are 900MHz, 1.8 GHz, 1.9GHz and 2.4GHz correspondingly. The result of the project shows that the human organs being tested are safe that the SAR obtained is much lower than the SAR limitation, 2W/kg, as shown in ICNIRP guideline.
