Abstract: | With the growth of the elderly population, aging society structure and the elderly health care problem becoming a prominent issue. Growing incapacity is coming with increasing age. Acute or chronic diseases may affect the sensory input, central nervous system and skeletal muscle strength coordination. Thus, accidental falls become the most common accident among elderly. However, it can avoid the severe result if we are able to notice elderly fall immediately. This project is combined with ZigBee wireless communication technology, arm to design a falling monitor system which is based on 3 axis accelerometer sensor via ZigBee method to collect geocentric acceleration and transfer to a centralized computer system then analysis data in order to classify the types of action i.e. sitting, running, or falling. If falling is detected, the service provider can provide medical aid in a timely and effective manner, and provide reference information to doctor. Taking advantages of the system, we can improve the survival rate of the elderly after the fall. In fact, an electronic based medical surveillance system can help the shortage of medical staff and medical expense problem. In addition, the system can work 24x7 and provide a more privacy living environment to the elderly so that they can have a better lifestyle. Key contribution 1. Aim at the aging problem, development a prescience elderly care service, to relieve the current and future elderly care service's deficiency. 2. According to the weakness of existing elderly care service, to provide a better solution to improve the late of rescue, especially of accidental falls which is over 55% home accident in Hong Kong. 3. A new idea which is the combination of the wireless system and elderly care service. 4. A new and consummate system which provide an automatic alarm system to help the rescue and provide immediately patient information for the hospital and first aiders. |
