With the increasing need to prepare our students for the global workplace and professional life, this project proposes to enhance student learning by developing a global classroom based on interactive, cross-media technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience for EN2837 Communicating Fashion Culture, and potentially for other EN courses across the curriculum, via the global classroom setting. This aligns with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and City University's shared mission to enhance student learning in a more engaged and global manner by utilizing digital technologies for pedagogical purposes to deliver educational content in a more dynamic and flexible way aligned with students' learning needs. This proposal will lay the foundations of teaching material and relevant technologies to teach EN2837 as a global classroom and cross-institutional course for CityU students, teaming up with a North American university using selected technologies to enhance the learning experience in an effort to broaden CityU student networks, expand their use of technologies, and enhance cross-cultural communication. This proposed project would help identify and select the relevant applied digital technologies and develop staged teaching materials including recorded lectures, podcasts of industry experts and interactive learning platforms. This global teaching and learning experience also offers the potential for more global and interactive learning opportunities creatively using dedicated technologies that enable students to learn in their own space and at their own pace. It will also enhance English language competencies as a lingua franca in a cross-cultural collaborative setting.en_US
