Abstract: | An oscillator with differential output is widely needed in many communications system. In light of this, in this project, a planar and simple crossover oscillator is designed. It generates differential output and the fundamental signal oscillates at 2GHz, with 6.98dBm output power. Also, a parallel-strip differential power combiner is designed in order to suppress the second harmonic. The fundamental oscillator generates 10.9dBm output power and achieves 34.2dBc harmonic suppression. Besides, an in-phase power combiner is designed and combined with the crossover oscillator, in order to have fundamental suppression. The harmonic oscillator oscillates at 4GHz, with 11.7dBm output power and 43.3dBc fundamental suppression. The fundamental oscillator and harmonic oscillator generates pure signal at the desired frequency 2GHz and 4GHz respectively, which implies that they can act as a local oscillator in communications system. |
