The major problem for a microstrip antenna is narrow bandwidth. In past decades, several techniques have been proposed for the bandwidth enhancement. L-probe antenna is one of the techniques to overcome the narrow-band problem of the microstrip antenna. There are a lot of literatures, which are about study, design and analysis of a microstrip patch antenna with an L-shaped probe. Air has been used as a substrate, which is used at the most of the L-shaped antenna design. Recently, a new idea for the L-probe antenna design has been proposed that is printed L-probe antenna design. Printed circuit board has been used instead of air to be the substrate. It helps to connect the antenna with power splitters and combiners for an antenna array design. In this project, analysis and design of L-probe antennas with wide operating bandwidth (operating frequency range around 3.2GHz to 4.2GHz) are presented. The designs are including a single element and antenna array. The printed L-probe antenna fabricated on a three-layered printed circuit board with εr=2.65. Technique for the cross-polarization suppression is purposed through the anti-phase cancellation in antenna array design. Moreover, experimental results for the antennas performance, including return loss, radiation pattern and gain are also presented.en_US
