Authors: Lo, Tsz Ying

Issue Date: 2011

Abstract: Hologram is a technique that records and reproduces a three dimensional (3-D) scene. It can be seen by interference of object beam and reference beam. In the past, it was not easy to generate holograms as many complicated optical equipments were used and unique environment was required. In this project, it presents a technique that holograms can be calculated numerically by use of Computer Generated Hologram (CGH). With the help of Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), it can significantly reduce the computation time. Besides, Point Source concept and Fourier Transform concept are adopted to generate the hologram. A real-time holographic video is produced with the consecutive holography and projected on the display.
