In this project, a simple gait analysis system is developed to detect the gait events by using a gyroscope which may help to determine the stimulation time in Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for drop-foot correction. This system is able to determine whether the foot is on the ground or off the ground at real time for normal gait. The angular velocities of moving in three directions, roll, pitch and yaw are sampled from the gyroscope, and the gait events are determined by a proposed algorithm in Java. A graphical output in real time is also provided as references for the professional therapist. The system was tested on level ground with normal gait and hemiplegic gait, and the possibility of using gyroscope as the sensor of FES drop-foot correction system is evaluated.en_US
