A web-based queuing system

Abstract

This final year project is to develop a web-based queuing system for the Information Technology Operation Department in SAE Magnetics Ltd (H.K.). The system is called "ITO Queuing System". The system is used to handle hundreds of IT requests calling from the users in the SAE Company. With the system, users can request support through intranet. And the system will record their jobs in the database, queue them up according to an algorithm and display it on the web with the jobs' orderings and priorities. On the other hand, IT Administrators have the right to edit the current queue, manage users' accounts, generate report or even announce important news through the web. In this project, the system should to be configured very well to plug in SAE company existing network and join the network domain. In order to provide its services, the web server has to map properly with the Domain Name Server, capable to retrieve data from the telephone system's database in Dong Gung and send email to users by calling the Lotus Notes Email server.
