Title: Applying Policy Analysis and Critical Thinking to Intellectual Property Law Courses
Department: School of Law (SLW)
Principal Investigator: Wan, Steven Ke
Co-investigator: Lin, Feng
Issue Date: 21-Jan-2011
Commencement Date: 2-Jan-2009
Completion Date: 27-Aug-2010
Abstract: Intellectual property law, including copyright, patent and trademarks, is a relatively new and controversial field. Depending on the different justifications for intellectual property law, the scope of protection may vary significantly. Rather than merely explaining current laws, our project intends to develop a set of materials for the teaching of IP law in the School of Law through applying policy analysis in class and encouraging students to think critically about issues in intellectual propery law. It will enable students to examine intellectual property law from a stimulating perspective. It is expected that our materials will also enable students to learn research skills by spotting issues and analyzing critically.
