Chinese Civilisation Lectures: Teaching/self-learning Resource Pack Series

Abstract

Since the establishment of Chinese Civilisation Centre in 1998, we have organized on CityU campus over 1000 lectures by world leading scholars. The video tapes of these lectures are the precious materials on teaching and learning Chinese civilisation. Our project is to transform these valuable resources into a series of teaching pack. The series as a whole will be the best self-study package for the students and the supporting for teaching Chinese Civilisation courses. Each teaching pack will comprise of three components: a video extract, a booklet and a work sheet. The video extract contains the highlights of the lecture, and the booklet includes background information of the scholarship of the topic, the speaker, a brief explanation of the lecture content and key words used, and a list of related reading materials and websites. As for the work sheet, there will be questions and exercises on the lecture materials. All the materials will also be digitalized and become a web-based teaching/self-learning resource that can be friendly accessed.
