Abstract: | With the technology advances in mobile communications, multi-functional mobile handset design becomes more and more sophisticated. Yet, the antenna design of these handsets remains a challenging task for engineers. Traditionally, antenna design relies on experiences of antenna designers, and requires a long trial and error process. Since requirements of antenna design have been getting tighter, the old ways for antenna designs are no longer efficient enough, particularly for those with complicated structures. Hence, Genetic Algorithms (GAs) optimization techniques have been introduced in combating the above situation. In this project, single objective and multi-objective Genetic Algorithms were employed to optimize a reference antenna model and explore new resonance frequencies. Results and performance of the GAs were further investigated and compared that suggested the power of GA optimizations on antenna designs. |
