Abstract: | Computers are everywhere in modern society; and embedded systems help a lot on providing smarter devices and more convenient life. Embedded Linux remains to be one of the most popular choices of operating system in the industry. This project investigates the possibility of building a commercial portable gaming device with wireless communication capability using embedded Linux and relative toolkits. Bingo, a historical but still popular game is taken as an example to implement the design. In this project, an ARM-based development kit includes a touch screen was adopted. A standalone game software with a graphical user interface was implemented successfully. Although major objectives are fulfilled, the wireless connection based on Bluetooth technique, was not so successful. There are a lot of improvements and enhancements that could be done after this project in order to achieve a commercial game console design. |
