Abstract: | This project researches on a new kind of wideband leaky-wave antenna array. By using the feeding structure with two kinds of microstrip lines to excite the strip of the antenna, the single conductor-strip leaky-wave antenna is designed to be a wideband and fixed end-fire direction leaky wave antenna firstly. Based on two identical elements mentioned before, the antenna array is developed by rotating the two single elements to 16 degree difference between them. A series of feeding network with the same method of the single element is designed for the antenna array. Therefore, the beamwidth and the gain are both improved by constructing the antenna array, compared to the single element. The bandwidth of S11 < -10dB is from 6.8GHz to 25GHz approximately. The beamwidth is about 30 degree. And the gain on the main working frequency can reach to 10dB-12dB. Furthermore, it has a wide range of applications. Four antenna arrays can be assembled together and controlled by a SP4T switch. The whole device can be placed on the corner of the ceiling and cover a large room into the communication system. Also, it can be treated as a kind of smart antenna, which can detect and follow the user. |
