New Interface of G6 on Touch Screen Device

Abstract

This project aims to improve the efficiency for G6 in Windows Mobile version by improving it interface. Since G6 was developed with using virtual keyboard, the design of it would be very important as it affects the efficiency very much. If the interface design is good for users, the efficiency can be much more improved even though it is not "beautiful". In this project, the new interface for G6 on Windows Mobile have been developed base on the rules, including the concept of interface design, the comparison from the old version and the trend of the interface design in nowadays mobile technology. The project focuses on the layout of the main keyboard (G6 mode) with the allocation of the buttons, the use of the function keys, and the size of the candidate list, etc. Some of the references were taken from the course EE4213 Human-Computer Interaction.
