Abstract: Texture synthesis is a process that generates an image based on a texture having certain patterns. That is important for image processing. Its application includes photo editing and image analogies, such as super resolution, texture transfer, artistic filters, texture-by-number. In this project, three algorithms are implemented for texture synthesis. The first and second algorithms are based on the Fast Texture Synthesis by Wei and Levoy, called single resolution and multi-resolution respectively. Another is Three Step Search (TSS), which has been widely used in block matching motion estimation, is implemented for accelerating the searching algorithm. TSS is combined with the multi-resolution to get the fast synthesized texture. Those algorithms, moreover, are used to apply on different applications, texture transfer and impainting.
