Abstract: | In this project, due to the previous work on routing of wireless networks, the fading characteristics of wireless channels are not taken into full consideration. Two routing protocols, ad hoc on demand distance vector routing protocol (AODV) and dynamic source routing protocol (DSR), will be simulated in order to compare their performances in different scenarios to find the optimal routing strategies to fully exploit the diversity gain provided by the cooperation among relays. The network simulations will be done by a simulator OPNET Modeler 10.5 in UNIX environment. The simulations will be divided into three parts, data rate, mobility and network density. And each part will be simulated at different environment in order to model the fading effect in these two routing protocols. The results of the simulations show that AODV is more adaptable than DSR in most situations when there is LOS. However, in NLOS situations, the impartation of AODV is stronger than that of DSR. As the result, it may not be better than DSR in this kind of situations. |
