Abstract: | The capacity of wireless networks is a highly attractive research topic. Some pioneer work has shown that the achievable capacity unfortunately approaches zero with a large number of nodes. Since, density and traffic size are the important factors to affect the network throughput, so by constructing some simulation scenarios, the capacity of single-hop and multi-hop network can be examined. For single-hop network, analysis on 802.11 MAC and the effect on capacity for varying the number of nodes and traffic size have been made. For ad hoc network, packets travel along a chain of intermediate nodes toward the destination. The effects on adjusting the number of nodes have been examined and finally validated some simulation results with experiments. |
