dc.description.abstract | Today, most of the public transport operators provide route query service in their websites. However, they work independently and there is no interoperability among them. Passengers may get frustrated when they do not know which operator to enquire or when they are not given the interchanging routes as those routes are operated by different operators. The interoperability among transport operators is restricted due to competition and technological constraints. So, there is a need to build up a centralized, effective and accurate route query system. This project is aimed at developing a crosspublic transport route query system, which integrates the route query mechanism of different public transport operators into a single query system. Passengers are only required to visit a single transport information portal to perform route query. The new system also performs some forerunner aspects, such as rapid query performance. Nodes and arcs data structures represent transit routes and stops will be loaded into the working memory persistently upon system start-up. Route map will become part of the user interface which allows users to select transit stops and view the graphical query result. Geometrical information will be used for distance estimation and path determination. Route cost used for path determination can be changes with circumstances which reserved for adoption of real-time traffic condition in the future. | en |
