Abstract: A sliding mode controller for inverters was designed. The sliding mode control is a type of variable structure control systems. The proposed control scheme has been successfully applied to to 300 W half bridge DC-AC inverter. The pratical implementation of the system will be provided. The dynamic responses of the inverter were test with different kinds of loads, such as a resistive load, a diode-capacitor rectifying load and an inductive load. The experimental results show that the inverter output voltage has a fast response to a large signal load disturbance and an output reference voltage change. THD of the output voltage was also measured.
