Extensible Markup Language (XML) is widely known for its powerful data formatting and exchanging. XML data is readability in different systems. Taking its advantage, the demand of using XML for data-transport and data-transformation is increased, publishing existing business data as XML format is essential. However, most businesses’ data is still stored in well-established relational database format. The main differences between XML database and relational database are their query languages. For XML database, XML querying language (XQuery) is used to access XML documents whereas structured query language (SQL) is used to process data stored in relational database. This creates the need for a system that can combine the best of both technologies for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency for handling both types of data at the same time. This project aims to investigate the feasibility of Transaction translation from XQuery to SQL. Firstly, the fundamental translation is based on the schema translation, mapping XML schema to relational database schema should be done. Secondly, implement a prototype of a designed algorithm for automatically translating XQuery into SQL. Finally, verify the equality and accuracy between XML documents and the relational database after performing the transaction translation.en
