Abstract: | This project is to design a new idea of RFID tag antenna which is operated for the ultra high frequency range of 902-928MHz and resonant frequency is 915MHz. The design was combined a patch antenna and a narrow feed line. The design has the properties of high gain, compact, broadband and platform tolerant. Direct impedance matching between the antenna and the RFID chip is made. The exactly conjugate match between the tag and the chip can be produced a maximum power transfer from the tag antenna. The design can be easily varied by tuning the U slot to obtain the required impedance. When the length of the U slot was decreased, the resonant frequency was increased and vice verse. Therefore, my design can be matched in different integrated circuit of different impedance. In this project, the designed antenna impedance is 16-380j. The design must have the properties of platform tolerant. The tag antenna is platform tolerant meaning that it has the same performance when mounting on different surfaces, e.g. plastic, wood, air, aluminium plate etc. The maximum measured read range is 4.23m. |
