Digital rights management on multimedia files

Abstract

In this project, digital rights management (DRM) based on Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) will be studied. They were employed to restrict the access of confidential image files. Using digital signature, license file which can be generated, which cannot be altered by others. Therefore it is suitable for checking the user’s access right. Physical serial number of hard disk is difficult to alter, so it is a common mean to determine the identity of users. Also, the range of hard disk serial number is large enough to prevent duplication. It was included in the license file to check whether the user is allowed to access an image. To prevent image viewing by other applications is also an important part. The can be done by encryption of the image file. Then the image file cannot be accessed by normal process. The encrypted image requires a symmetric key to decrypt. Key exchange architecture is used for key distribution. It can prevent the symmetric key expose to third party.
