Abstract: | The Optoelectronics Laboratory at the EE Department carries out a lot of research activities in several aspects of optoelectronics technologies. Moreover, these research activities quite frequently require a lot of chemicals which are flammable or explosive. At the moment, the management of all these chemicals logging and disposals procedures, etc. are heavily involved using papers with the help of dedicated technical staff to follow through all the procedures. So we can see there should be a room to improve its workflow efficiency with the help a computer based management system – Chemical Logging System. The objective of doing this project is to implement such a system in laboratory by eliminating all the unnecessary paper works. In this Chemical Logging System, it provides an efficient platform to manage all chemical records purchased or stored at the Optoelectronics Laboratory in an efficient way through using the web developing environment WAMP. “Chemical Request Processes” including chemical applications, administrator approval and chemical registrations, etc are handled successfully by this system. All the on-going processing status will be notified to all the parties involved through email sent by the system. And all data are kept in a more clearly and reliable way. Hence, it increases the readability and manageability of the whole chemical logging processes. The whole system has completed its alpha system test in February and March. Now, the final proof-test Chemical Logging System is completely launched in the Optoelectronics Laboratory With the help of this system, all the paper works can be greatly simplified and hence the overall work efficiency is increased. |
