dc.description.abstract | It is desired to have an excellent performance and cost-effective solution in high data transmission of communication system. Frequency-Controlled beam-steering antenna array element is cost-effective and so is desired in modern satellite communication system, telecommunication and radar system. It is useful for antenna array as it applies in high link operation where the gain can be increase by applying the array. The project investigates the way to accomplish beam steering by a frequency-controlled scheme which adjusts the scanning angle by changing the radio frequency (RF) with fixed delay line of the system. RF is mixed by the local oscillator (LO) and intermediate frequency (IF) of the mixer. Therefore, the elimination of the expensive phase shift component can be achieved. Furthermore, this design increases the transmission capacity. This array element can be divided into three parts. Firstly, they are the delay lines and power divider in the element. Secondly, it is the second harmonics mixer. The final part is the antenna which connects with the mixer. The project includes design, simulation, fabrication and measurement of frequency-controlled beam-steering antenna array element. It is hoped that the conclusions in this project are useful for further improvement of phased array. | en_US |
