Abstract: | Nowadays, many families in Hong Kong employ housemaid to take care their families and babies. Most of them plan to install a remote monitoring system in order to monitor the working attitude of their housemaid. On the other hand, many Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) also plan to install some portable and powerful devices to do dangerous and disgusting jobs to replace human beings. But there are some problems, like limitation of budget and area to install as well as where to install the system. They are also afraid that the investment cannot reach their expected result. In our project, I will develop a movable device by an embedded Linux device, Kuro-box. This is a self-movable device; its functions include video recording, motion detection with email alert, remote control moving direction / remote access via World Wide Web, high portability (with wireless internet access) and user-friendly interface. This device provides SMEs a platform to develop their own remote basic tools because it is built with embedded Linux which allows some demo programs to run on it easily. SMEs can perform some trail tests on this device before investing money. |
