Abstract: The ZigBee Alliance has standardized the specifications of remote control and monitoring systems for applications in lighting, consumer electronics, etc. In our project, a ZigBee-based wireless platform is designed for remote control / monitoring of a lamp, and temperature and humidity sensors. This project is divided into two parts, the wireless platform design and antenna design for the ZigBee communications system. The wireless platform provides users with a simple means to develop their products. The MCU is based on MC9S08GB60 which is a microcontroller provided by Freescale. In the antenna design, we have developed a PIFA (printed inverted F antenna), a patch antenna design and a loop antenna. These antennas achieved a linear polarization that can be operated at the radio frequency of 2.4GHz. The RF module is based on MC13192 which is an RFIC also provided by Freescale.
