Abstract: | Ultra wide band (UWB) is a radio technology using much wider bandwidth than the conventional narrowband transceivers. Based on the rule published by the Federal Communications Commission, the frequency band from 3.1 to 10.6GHz can be used with the restriction that the power spectrum density must be less than -41.25dBm. In order to achieve the high-speed-and-low-power UWB solution, a narrow pulse is needed. In this project, a step recover transistor circuit is proposed. With the continuality of the inductor current, and the switching property of the transistor, a short pulse is generated. The simulation result shows that, the circuit can produce a narrow pulse with a 20MHz input source. Due to the lack of equipment, the circuit is downgraded to produce a 5-nano-second pulse so that the DR scope can show the output waveform. After implementing the hard-ware circuit, the measurement result shows that the generator can produce the 5-nano-second pulse which agrees with the simulation result. |
