An ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna is designed for UWB Front-End of applications in communication systems. The proposed antenna is designed to operate from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz and notch the signal of 802.11a system which between 5.15GHz to 5.85GHz. It consists of a circle patch, and a coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed slot antenna to achieve the wideband characteristics. The ground plane of the CPW fed slot antenna is designed on the same plane with the patch with circle slots. A u-shape slot on the patch was designed to notch the 5GHz to 6GHz signal. Details of the proposed design and experimental results of constructed prototypes are presented and discussed.en
